Certification to ISO/IEC 27001 (PDF, 277 kB) enables SEW-EURODRIVE to demonstrate that legal specifications, internal checks and data protection regulations are firmly anchored in company guidelines and are therefore observed and implemented. The constant stream of media reports about data protection breaches and security leaks among even high-profile companies shows how important this is.
Alexander Stamm, CIO at SEW EURODRIVE stresses: "IT security is a key issue for a globally active and future-oriented company such as SEW EURODRIVE." He and the project team are therefore extremely pleased to have passed the audit once again. "This certificate is a clear signal to our partners, employees, business partners and internal and external customers that information security is a top priority at SEW EURODRIVE," says Bernhard Haungs, Head of the Compliance & Information Security (ITC) department and data protection officer at SEW EURODRIVE.
ISO/IEC 27001 is a leading international standard that provides a systematic, structured approach that helps protect confidential data, enable the integrity of operational data and increase the availability of IT systems in the company. In these times of growing cyber criminality, it is becoming increasingly important for customers of technological companies that confidential data is protected against hacking, data loss and misuse. The certificate is also of vital importance for ensuring compliance with the new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
